The OnePlus 13 runs OxygenOS 15 (based on Android 15), and the reset paths follow OnePlus’s standard scheme: a force-restart key combo for unresponsive devices (no data loss), a factory reset through Settings when OxygenOS is functional, and a recovery-mode reset for locked-out or unbootable phones. After any factory reset, the phone enforces Google’s Factory Reset Protection (FRP) — you’ll need the previously signed-in Google account to complete setup.
Watch the procedure (video tutorial)
Method 1: Force restart (no data loss)
For frozen screens, unresponsive apps, or boot-loop situations. Does not erase any data.
- Press and hold the Power button and Volume Up button at the same time.
- Keep holding both for about 10 seconds until the screen goes black and the OnePlus logo reappears.
- Release both buttons.
Method 2: Factory reset from Settings (when the phone works normally)
Standard factory reset path through OxygenOS.
- Open Settings.
- Scroll to System.
- Tap Reset options.
- Tap Erase all data (factory reset).
- Review the summary, then tap Erase all data.
- Enter your PIN, password, or pattern. Tap Erase all data again on the final confirmation.
- The phone restarts and begins the wipe — usually completes in 5-10 minutes.
Method 3: Hard reset via Recovery Mode (when locked or won’t boot)
Use this when the phone is stuck at a lock screen you can’t get past or won’t boot Android.
- Power off the phone completely. Hold Power button, tap Power off.
- Press and hold Power + Volume Down at the same time.
- Keep both buttons held until the OnePlus boot logo appears, then release. The phone enters the OnePlus Recovery menu.
- You may be prompted to select language first — choose English.
- Tap Wipe data.
- Tap Wipe data again on the confirmation screen, then enter the on-screen confirmation code (a sequence of digits OnePlus shows to prevent accidental wipes). Tap OK.
- When the wipe completes, return to the main recovery menu and tap Reboot → Reboot to system.
After the reset
The phone boots to the OnePlus / OxygenOS welcome screen. You’ll need to sign in with the previously signed-in Google account (FRP). After Google sign-in, restore from a Google backup or use OnePlus Clone Phone to migrate from another device, or set up as new.
Troubleshooting
Recovery mode requires a confirmation code I can’t read or enter
Recent OxygenOS recovery menus require typing a multi-digit code as a safety measure to prevent accidental wipes. The code is shown clearly on screen — use the on-screen keyboard to enter it. If the keyboard isn’t appearing, your touchscreen may have failed; in that case, OnePlus support can clear the device with proof of ownership.
FRP lock after reset — can’t get past Google account screen
Recover the Google account at accounts.google.com/signin/recovery. Google will not bypass FRP. If the phone was previously owned by someone else, only they can remove the device from their Google account.
The phone enters Fastboot mode instead of Recovery
This means the buttons were released too early. Power off, then hold Power + Volume Down again — but keep holding past the OnePlus logo. If you accidentally enter Fastboot, use Volume buttons to navigate to RECOVERY MODE and press Power to select.
