How to do Soft Reset and Hard Reset on HTC U11

HTC U11 is one of the flagship smartphone whose presence was predicted to shake the dominance of iPhone and Samsung in East Asian market. With the codename Ocean, this sophisticated mobile phone is presented in a unibody form. Using aluminum as the main body material makes this phone lightweight as well as powerful. This product has also earned IP67 certification, a certification that ensures the resilience of a mobile phone product to exposure to water and dust.

Some new features are presented in this phone. One of them is Edge Sense feature that is quite interesting for most people. This feature allows each user to run many features just by touching the side of the handset. This feature shortens the time in running the phone; so many observers conclude that U11 is a phone with “smart body”. The function run depends on how long the hand squeezes or presses the body. Back on Edge Sense feature, what distinguishes it with similar features in other phones is its compatibility with Alexa and Google Assistant. But keep in mind that this compatibility is only available for products sold in three countries; United States, United Kingdom, and Germany.

Soft Reset

Soft Reset is a reset process that will not remove your data from the phone. This process is just a way to reset your phone if it is frozen or glitches. Here are the steps in doing Soft Reset on U11:

  1. Press and hold “Volume Up” and “Power” buttons simultaneously. Do this so the phone turns off.
  2. After the phone turns off then this device needs to be restarted by pressing and holding “Power” for a few seconds.
  3. Once the phone is active, it means the phone has been soft reset.

Hard Reset

Unlike Soft Reset, Hard Reset will erase all data stored in the device. This process should be implemented if issues cannot be resolved by the soft rest option. Before doing this process you should make sure all your important data has been secured in another storage device.

Here are the steps in doing Hard Reset on U11:

    1. Open “Settings” on the menu.
    2. Select “Backup & Reset”.
    3. Click “Factory Data Reset“.
    4. Select “Reset Phone” and continue with “Erase Everything”.

You can also do the next method of Hard Reset. The trick is to first turn off the device and re-enable it. To turn the device back on you must press and hold two buttons simultaneously for a few seconds. The two buttons are “Volume Down” and “Power”. When you see the HTC logo appear then it’s time you release both buttons. Navigate “Volume Down” to access “Factory Reset” and then press “Power” button to confirm and the Hard Reset process will run.About HTC U11.
